October 28

Today is International Animation Day

International Animation Day (IAD) is celebrated annually on October 28th. It was established by ASIFA in 2002 to commemorate the first public performance of animated moving images by Émile Reynaud in 1892. The day is observed worldwide with various events like film screenings, exhibitions, and workshops, celebrating the art and science of animation.

Wondering what Reynaud's 1892 film looks like? Thank goodness for YouTube!

While you may not be ready to animate a full-length feature film anytime soon, you can create your own low-key animation in just a couple of minutes with only pen and paper.

You might try making a jack-o-lantern go from smiling to frowning, or a skeleton performing the latest dance craze, or a bat flapping its wings
