Here's an easy recipe so you too can raise a glass!
Ingredients
- 1 gallon apple cider (choose unfiltered cider for the best flavor)
- 1 orange, sliced
- 3 cinnamon sticks
- 1 tablespoon whole cloves
- 1 tablespoon whole allspice
- 1" fresh ginger root, sliced (optional, for an added kick)
- Brown sugar or maple syrup (optional, to taste)
Instructions
- Combine Ingredients: Pour the apple cider into a large pot or slow cooker. Add the sliced orange, cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, whole allspice, and optional ginger slices.
- Heat & Mull: If using a pot, heat the mixture over medium heat until it just begins to simmer (avoid bringing to a boil as this can make the cider taste bitter). If using a slow cooker, set it to low heat. Simmer for at least 15-20 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. You can let it mull for longer, even a few hours, to intensify the aroma and flavor.
- Sweeten (Optional): Taste the cider and add brown sugar or maple syrup if you prefer a sweeter drink.
- Serve: Ladle the hot mulled cider into mugs. You can leave the spices and orange slices in for a rustic presentation or strain them out before serving.
- Serving suggestions
- Garnish with extra orange slices or cinnamon sticks.
Enjoy this warm and fragrant beverage that's sure to bring cozy comfort to your day!
