September 22

This is another most auspicious day on the calendar for many at the Omni Ocademy. Without the events that led to this day, none of this would even exist!

Bilbo Baggins' home in Hobbiton

Blockbuster franchises like Star Wars and the Wizarding World (and even little ol' Omni Tales)
take their inspiration from the author who started it all, JRR Tolkien.

Today we celebrate Bilbo & Frodo's birthday by sharing a few party-planning ideas for your own Middle-Earth get-together

First, here are a couple of photos from our own LotR party way back when

Decorations

Hobbit Hole Entrance
Create a hobbit hole entrance with a round door and a sign that says "No admittance except on party business"

Shire Ambiance
Use natural elements like moss, ivy, grapevine, and wooden barrels to create a rustic, woodsy feel

Lighting
Incorporate cozy lighting with string lights, candles, and lanterns to evoke a warm, inviting atmosphere

Banners and Flags
Hang pennon bunting banners and flags with designs inspired by the different realms of Middl-Earth

Food & Drink

Second Breakfast
Offer a spread of scones, muffins, hard-boiled eggs, sausages, and tea, served on a rustic wooden tray

Hobbit Feasts
Include dishes like mini meat pies, cheese and bread boards, apple tarts, and mushrooms

Shire-cuterie Board
Create a charcuterie board with a variety of cheeses, crackers, meats, fruits, and nuts, presented on a board that looks like a hobbit hole.

Drinks.
Serve ale or root beer in large mugs, along with other beverages like elven wine or even tea

Lembas Bread
Serve flatbread, or a type of bread that represents the lembas bread.
(I did this by making shortbread)

Finally, here's a little music to accompany you while you work on party business
...
and after you finish all the party preparations, enjoy a cup of tea while listening to chapter one of The Hobbit
