The shift from summer to fall can bring about changes in mood, both positive and negative, due to factors like reduced daylight, changes in routine, and temperature fluctuations. Some people experience increased feelings of sadness, fatigue, and decreased motivation, potentially due to Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), while others may find the season brings opportunities for reflection and a sense of renewal.

Approximately 5% of adults in the US experience SAD with mood changes becoming more pronounced as summer transitions to fall and winter.

Many more experience milder forms of seasonal mood changes, with some studies suggesting up to 20% of adults may have some symptoms like decreased energy or sleep disruption, even if they don't meet the full criteria for SAD.
